A Diesel Generator Set consists of three major components, engine, generator, and control system. The working principle of a Diesel Generator Set is to convert the thermal energy produced by the combustion of diesel fuel into mechanical energy, and then convert the mechanical energy into electrical energy. The diesel generator set is composed of a diesel generator, fuel supply system, cooling system, and control system.
When the Diesel Generator Set starts, the engine control system injects fuel into the engine and air into the intake system. When the fuel and air are mixed, combustion occurs in the cylinder. The high-temperature and high-pressure gas generated by combustion drives the piston to move and thus drives the crankshaft to rotate. The rotation of the crankshaft transfers mechanical energy to the generator, causing the wires in the generator to move in the magnetic field, generating electrical current, and ultimately converting mechanical energy into electrical energy.
To ensure the normal operation of the Diesel Generator Set, the fuel system, cooling system, and control system must also work together. The fuel supply system injects fuel into the cylinder for combustion, while the cooling system cools the engine to prevent malfunctions caused by overheating. The control system automatically monitors the voltage, frequency, and other parameters of the generator to ensure the stable operation of the generator set.
